Precast Concrete Columns & Beams
CoreCast manufactures structural precast concrete columns and beams for commercial, industrial and civil frames across Perth and Western Australia. Each element is cast to the structural engineer's design with reinforcement cages, corbels, base plates and connection hardware positioned before the pour.
Casting columns in the factory takes column formwork, steel fixing and curing off the site programme entirely, and lets column production run in parallel with foundations. The result is tighter dimensional accuracy and better surface finish than in-situ casting, which matters where columns are left exposed.
Columns and beams are supplied as a coordinated package so connection detailing and tolerances stay consistent across the frame. Crane erection, propping, grouting and connection works are by others.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are precast concrete columns?
Precast concrete columns are structural vertical members cast in a factory to the engineer's design, complete with reinforcement cages, corbels, base plates and cast-in connection hardware. They arrive on site as finished structural elements, ready to be craned into position and connected, rather than requiring formwork, steel fixing and pouring in place.
What are the advantages of precast columns over in-situ columns?
Factory casting gives higher dimensional accuracy and better surface finish, removes column formwork and curing from the site programme, and lets column production run in parallel with foundations. On multi-level and industrial frames this typically takes weeks out of the structural programme.
Does CoreCast manufacture precast beams as well as columns?
Yes. Columns and beams are manufactured as a single structural package, which keeps connection detailing, corbel geometry and tolerances consistent across the frame and simplifies coordination on site.
How are precast columns connected on site?
Connection methods are set by the structural engineer and detailed at shop drawing stage — commonly grouted base plates, starter bars into grout sleeves, or bolted connections to cast-in ferrules. All connection hardware is cast into the column during manufacture so it arrives ready to install.
What documentation is supplied with precast columns?
Every column package includes approved shop drawings, concrete test certificates, lifting design calculations and a full Manufacturer's Data Report (MDR) for compliance and project handover.
Does CoreCast erect precast columns on site?
No. CoreCast manufactures and supplies the columns and delivers them to site with lifting inserts cast in. Crane erection, propping, grouting and connection works are carried out by your erection contractor.
